Graduation

High school
I graduated ten years ago
So much has changed
Yet my fear of them stays the same.
So freakin odd.

Michelle graduated from 8th grade today.
It was so interesting to see her today.
Such a beautiful, intelligent young woman,
and yet a little girl...
She knows so much
She thinks she knows so much
This odd gap with us, a distance -
So much has changed,
so much stays the same.

Two weeks left,
and my students will be
6th graders..
another ending
another beginning

For one who hates change
hates goodbyes
hates endings,
hates new beginnings
I sure picked an odd career.
